I had been planning a trip to the sods with Mike (Country_Rat) and Tracy (HappyCamper) for a few weeks. Mike works evenings so we had intended to leave early Saturday morning. When Mike had to work that weekend I asked

GeoWoodstock 7 or bust!!!!!
GeoWoodstock was in the east once again this year in Tennessee. Being the obsessive cachers we are several members of MAGPI had to make the trip. Friday morning WVHunter, WVCoalcat, Rock_Rat, Knight Who Says Neigh, Spotty Spotty Pony Girl, PBump and his wife set out from our West Virginia hills to the relatively flat vistas of western Tennessee. Kick’n back with a group of well hung campers!
I spent last weekend at MAHAA the Mid-Atlantic Hammock Hangers Association an event put on by a few guys over on hammockforums.net. The event is held twice a year (spring/fall) at Gathland state park in Maryland on the Appalachian Trail. (more…)
We all need a little fling every now and then!
Sunday was the Highlands Spring Fling ‘09 at Cabala’s in Wheeling, WV. The Spring Fling used to be known as the “Cabala’s Spring Fling” but the name was changed last year to avoid issues with groundspeak’s “non commercial” rule. The fling is held in the conference rooms on the second floor of Cabala’s. There are usually between 40-70 cachers in attendance. (more…)
Group Cache Run - 02/28/2009

Midwinter blues buster
I’ve been suffering from a terrible case of cabin fever, spring fever, seasonal affective disorder, what ever. I’m just done with the snow so when I saw a gorgeous 70 degree day in the forecast for Wednesday I asked my boss to take some vacation time. A friend and I left my apartment in the late morning, grabbed some lunch and decided it was a good day to hit some geocaches that had been lurking in the 15 mile radius from my apartment. Since Country_Rat had been mandated the evening before and was tired we limited our selves to easier caches and started out for a Hacked Again cache by Colecops and then grabbed Satisfaction Guaranteed. At this point it was sunny and 70 Degrees so you know the top had to come off the Jeep. We continued on to Wanna go to the can in Pruntytown with a fantastic walk to the cache. Next we where off to find Till Death one of WVHunters latest creations and as for me I’m just glad he took his cat with him :). We finished the day with Clermont Cemetery another WVHunter cache this time overlooking a great little gorge and I-79. All in all I think driving around in the sun with the top off inter spaced with a few caches drove my midwinter blues back into submission and gave me what I need to survive a few more weeks.
